An Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) is a qualified social worker with specialist training in supporting people experiencing mental health challenges. Like a psychologist, a MHASW provides evidence-based therapy, while also taking a broader, holistic view of a person’s life—considering relationships, family systems, culture, community, and other social factors alongside thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, that may be impacting their wellbeing.

Working in this way means I provide not only targeted therapeutic intervention, but also support with referrals to specialised services and collaboration with other supports, helping to integrate care and promote holistic recovery.

Guided by the AASW Code of Ethics, my practice is trauma-informed and grounded in anti-oppressive and social justice principles. I seek to honour each person’s lived experience and create a space that is safe, respectful, and empowering.
